Music

The thought of writing a bit about my musical preferences had me *rolling my eyes* I mean, where do I start?

I have always loved music. I was brought up with music playing 24/7 and it is almost impossible for me to imagine life without it.

The power of music never fails to astound me. Rather like photographs, music brings back so many memories. Some songs remind me of fabulous times from my past and others remind me of not so fabulous times.

As a child, I was subjected to a huge variety of music. My uncle lived with us for a time and Queen, Gary Glitter and various other 70's artists were heard blasting from his room. Competing for airspace in the house was my mother, who didn't really care for the 'modern' music, but instead, preferred Patsy Cline, Connie Francis and the like.

At 33 years old, I look back and see why my musical taste is so varied. There were so many different influences when I was growing up. I am not complaining at all. To be honest, I find it difficult to understand how some people can limit themselves to one particular type of music. I mean, why close off so many avenues of pleasure? Enjoy them all. That is what I do.

When I am asked what type of music I am 'into' I simply reply that I like everything. Of course I don't like every record ever recorded, but from all types of music you can be sure I like at least a couple of tracks. And I am happy with this. I love my music, and, as always, I don't care whether my taste is trendy, hip, fashionable, or whatever, it is me who has to listen to it and I never allow others to dictate what I should and should not take pleasure from.

If a piece of music inspires an emotion within someone then it should not matter whether or not it is fashionable to be 'into' the artist performing.

If it makes me relax - fine; if it makes me cry - fine; if it makes me happy and want to shake my arse all over the place - even better! (I LOVE dancing!)

Below are some of the people/bands I enjoy listening to, concluding with links to pages dedicated to my favourite male and female artists. Most names in the following list contain links to websites relating to the Star. I have done my best to find the official sites of the Stars but some links may not contain the official site. Some of the links will take you to biographies of the Star courtesy of Yahoo.com. Clicking any of the links will open a new window, leaving you free to continue browsing my website.

... I could actually keep going *lol* But I think you get the idea. There are far more to list, lots of newer singers and bands but some I forget. I never forget the older ones though *smile*

I have saved two particular artists till last, and the reason for this is that these two people are my favourites.

They are my favourites because of their absolute talent in both performing and songwriting. I can relate to their music so very much and both have moved me in ways no other artist has ever done.

And here are my two all-time favourite singer/songwriters....
