George Michael
As part of my (apparently) ever growing website I decided I would like to dedicate a little corner of it to my favourite singers/songwriters.
I could fill an entire server with all the people I love to listen to, and so I have taken just two from them all, my fav male and my fav female artist.
Obviously, unless you are blind, or stupid, or your browser is on images off, or your computer is totally f***ed up, you will be aware that this page is dedicated to George Michael.
Ever since the first time I saw George on TV (too many years ago to mention) I loved him to death!
When Wham! really took off in the UK and all the girls were screaming and creaming their panties over him and Andrew Ridgeley, there was I amongst them *laughing* Of course, back then I was still in the closet, but only for a wee while more.
I used to watch Top of The Pops with my friends (mostly girls) and we'd sit and stare at the box, drooling as he moved and wiggled his body around the stage in that oh so unforgettable way *faint* Looking back, I was so naive not to see how ABSOLUTELY camp he was.
I was obviously very discreet in the early days with regards my drooling over George - I wiped the drool from my mouth before anyone saw! But once I was out of the closet there was no holding back. The posters went up all over my bedroom (saved my mother a fortune on wallpaper), the records were bought by the dozen ... blah blah.
My (girl)friends and I would fight about who he would fancy most, and my instinct told me I was right to say he would fancy me most (well, I wished) *LOL*
I suppose the initial attraction to George was his image as opposed to his music, and I dare say I was not alone. But, as I grew as a young gay man (16 at the time) I found his music rather refreshing. It was fun - 'Club Tropicana', 'Wham! Rap' and 'Wake me up before you go-go' being my absolute favourites. Anyone who heard those records and was not overcome by an overwhelming desire to shake their arse all over the place must surely have been dead!
When I would watch George in his videos/tv appearances it was like watching myself at the Club on a Friday night. By this time, my attraction/fascination had gone beyond his image to include his music and his voice.
Then followed a rather tumultuous period in my life *rolls eyes* and I had no time for ANYTHING let alone music. As that period was drawing to a close, I remember seeing George on TV and thinking - "Oh God, he's gone all butch on us!"
I wasn't as keen on the new 'butch' look, instead preferring his boyish, clean-cut look which had given me some of my earliest orgasms *LOL*
I missed a period of his music during the aforementioned time, gosh, I missed a period of my own bloody life *lol* (dont ask!) But I quickly caught up with him after buying a couple of albums (vinyl back then).
I shall never forget the day I heard him sing 'Careless Whisper' - talk about moved! From that day onwards Georges image has been secondary to his voice. Dont get me wrong, my days of w***ing over his pictures were far from over, the difference now being that I would listen to his records FIRST *LOL*
When I heard 'Careless Whisper' that day on the radio, I knew that George Michael had arrived, and most importantly that he was here to stay.
The rest is really not worth writing about. I have followed George and his music, albeit from a distance, from 1982 and I will continue to do so as long as there are records being produced that I enjoy.
I never cared about people thinking you must be a w***er to like Wham! or George Michael, no more than I care about the fact he was caught trying to get a shag in a toilet in Los Angeles. So friggin what? As my Mother would say - "Dirty Bastard !" Oops! No she wouldn't say that, well she would, but not with any malice *lol* What I meant to say was "Whatever floats your boat..." He's a gay man for crying out loud and that's what lots of gay men get up to (not me I hasten to add). Only difference is, he got caught.
Those people who were 'shocked' about the whole affair must have been stupid and blind, and likely hypocritical as well, especially those who say they didn't realise he was gay. I mean, puleaze! Listen to the mans music, look back over the years, read between the lines! Short of screaming out on an album cover - "I'M A RAGING HOMOSEXUAL" I doubt he could have made it any clearer.
Joking aside, I actually admired his subtlety over the years. I mean, it was obvious that those around him, his family and friends must have known. The rest of us had to read between the lines, thats IF we were interested and of course lots of us were. I doubt that anyone who was interested DIDN'T pick up the signs he was so obviously transmitting to us, albeit discretely.
Lets face it, it really was none of our business. Just because we buy his records and w*nk over his album covers does not entitle us to a daily nose around his private life.
The man is a genius. I wouldn't say he is my idol, no more than I would say that anyone is my idol, but he has certainly had an effect on me at various times in my life, more through his music than his 'scandals', and for that I shall always admire him. Few songwriters have made me feel through their voice and music what George has, and that is why he is my absolute favourite male artist.
And of course, he is still orgasm material, even though he is 30 something :)
I guess he shall always have a special place in my heart, or should that be my jeans ... ?

I was absolutely thrilled when I received the new George Michael CD in my stocking at Christmas. The CD 'Songs From The Last Century' is absolutely wonderful!
On it, George has covered the most bizarre cross section of hits from the last century.
On looking at the CD cover for the first time I was intrigued (and scared!) to listen to his versions of some of my most favourite songs. My worries (?) were in vain - I was as I still am - thoroughly impressed.
One thing I noticed after listening to the CD a couple of times was how things had changed from his closeted days. Gone are the days of hidden meanings in lyrics - now he is almost screaming about his homosexuality, and in response to that I can only say GO GEORGE!
Seriously though, the CD is wonderful. His voice compliments each cover he has done. My favourite track would have to be his fantastically swinging version of "Secret Love", but really all of them have me addicted to the CD. Very well done! Another masterpiece for the collection!

After browsing my site to see new additions and the like, Jonathan pointed out that I had failed to mention my trip to Wembley Stadium in October 1999 when I saw George. How remiss! Believe me, I have no idea why I forgot to mention it. That occasion was one of the highlights of my life!
So yeah, I saw the man himself live at Wembley Stadium during the Netaid concert. The entire show was fantastic, but of course, for me, the highlight was George. True to form, his 15 minutes on stage were out of this world. Truly professional. Jonathan and our friends told me afterwards that my face was a picture when George came on stage, and in fact, I think I almost fainted *lol* I only regret that I didn't have the camera with me (some fool told me there was a no camera rule at Wembley *rolls eyes*) otherwise I could have posted pictures on the site. Oh well, never mind, I have the memories *smile* Memories that will stay with me forever.
